Rotary is a volunteer organization of 1.2 million business and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build goodwill and peace. About 32,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas conduct projects to address today's challenges, while encouraging high ethical standards in all vocations.
Sugar House is located five miles southeast of the center of Salt Lake City. The "centerpiece" of Sugar House, the Plaza Monument, was dedicated November 17, 1934 and erected in honor of the establishment of the first sugar mill in the western hemisphere.
The Sugar House Rotary Club was originally composed of 22 members and officially first met on April 30,1936.
